Uh-oh

Well I know its been a few days since writing. One, I have been very busy with company, but two I landed myself a trip in the hospital. The very next day after my "awesome" two week check up I ended up right back in the clinic, then admitted. On Thursday morning, I woke up like any other day; ate breakfast, a little bit of housework, took Emma and Amy to the pool, come back and showered....and well thats where my day went sour. After I showered I sat down in the recliner to rest, then all of a sudden I got hit with these massive stomach pains. It was kind of like I was in labor and my pains were about a minute and a half apart. My first reaction was "what the heck"?? I sat there for about 20 minutes (with Brandons watchful eye over me). The pain kept getting more and more intense. On the pain scale I was at a 10!! I called the clinic and they asked me to come in right away. Once I got to the hospital I started vomitting non stop until I reached the point of dry heaving. UGH! Everything was going so perfectly. Anyway, the doctor did an exam, and decided to admit me, back to the 7th floor. He said he would get me set up and get me some pain meds before starting test. I was all for that...I was dying! So of course the first thing in any hospital stay is to get the IV started....yeah right! Now keep in mind I am usually an easy stick. I have always been told I have awesome veins! So the tech comes in and she couldn't get it the first try. I was compassionate with her and gave her permission to try again, so she did...and failed! I was a good sport, I told her it was okay, but to let someone else try. So the next tech comes in and gives it a whirl. She was pretty confident..she pokes and gets a return, yeah...oh wait...she freakin blew the vein!! So apparently third times NOT a charm. The techs in the clinic gave up, and said they would have to start my IV once I got the the floor. I get up to my room... a private room, yeah, and the tech there said she was pretty good at IV's. She was nice and I thought okay, finally someone who knows what they are doing. BAM, can you freakin believe it. She didnt get it either.....then others try 6, 7, 8, 9, and yes 10 tries!!! Still no IV!!! They actually gave up. They said they were taking me to PACU (the experts) and let them do it. Can you believe even there it took TWO MORE TRIES??? So on attempt 12 I have an IV....in my FOOT!! Talk about awkward. SO my first couple of hours in the hospital wre spent getting an IV. On to the test. I got an CAT scan to look real close at my "new" stomach and incisions. My doc wanted to make sure I didnt have a leak, tear, or restriction. All checked out well. They wanted to put the scope down in my stomach, but the department that does the test were all at a meeting. So the next day my docs decided to release me and come back and do it outpatient. They are pretty sure that I have an ulcer in my pouch at the incision site. I guess its pretty common, and especially for those who dont take their Nexium daily...me me me me! I misunderstood that I was suppose to take daily whether I needed or not to PREVENT an ulcer. Oh well, lesson learned. So thats my story up to now. I took it pretty easy over the weekend. One of best friends arrived over the weekend...she is moving here. They are staying with us until they find a house. I just LOVE having her around. So no more news for now is good news. I am taking my medicine as I am suppose to, and taking care of myself. I go for my one month post op check next week.
XOXO
P.S. The photo is a picture of my forearm where the tech "blew" my vein. Just one of my many bruises from the TWELVE attempts to start an IV.
